God–The Fulfillment of All Relationships

Humans are notorious for trying to seek fulfillment in their interpersonal relationships.  However, in my experience with people, no relationship matches exactly what we expect from it and even if they did get close, the hard reality is that every relationship on earth is temporary.  And yet, there is something within us that has a knowing of a perfect and eternal relationship where we are known by and know the Other completely.  I believe that relationship is the one that we have with God, which is the essence of all of our relationships.

1 John 3:2 says:

“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”

He, She, We…I am not going to get into all of that.  What I will say is that I believe God is the fulfillment of all of our relationships of every kind.  As I said in the video, for a long time I needed God to be a father and He was.  When I needed God to be a mother, She was.  When I needed God to be everything and everyone for me, We were (speaking from the place of Oneness.)  Here’s the deal.  God is wholly present in every relationship and is the hope and fulfillment of every desire for perfect relationship that we will ever have.  Even if we don’t believe in God, God is wholly present in our doubt reflecting back to us the very thoughts about God that we are rejecting.  How can I say this in a more confusing way?  God is even fully present in what we observe as missing.  We know something is missing because we have an inner knowing of where God is and should be apparent in our lives.  Make sense?
