All Will Know

I am looking forward to the day when I will no longer be called to preach.

Does that sound shocking? Perhaps provocative?

Well, to some degree it was meant to be because I want to get your attention so that you hear what I have to say next.

I am looking forward to the day when I will no longer be called to preach, because from the perspective of my soul, that will mean that I am living in a world where the new covenant has been fulfilled—the days spoken of in the passage we just heard in Jeremiah where the Word of the Lord says, I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their [b]hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 No more shall anyone teach his or her neighbor, and anyone their brother or sister, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Could you see a need for a preacher in such a world?
